Trail 10k Wales 2020: Event announcement
Following examination of the current Welsh Government guidelines surround the COVID-19 crisis in the UK and projecting forward how the situation will unfold in the coming months, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Trail 10K Wales.
A quick glance around the running landscape in the UK will see that this is not unexpected, however it means that outside of the Winter Trail Wales race in January all of our events and courses in 2020 have had to be cancelled, along with much of our academi Coed y Brenin kids running club sessions, Thursday Night Runs and the highly popular Ladies Social Runs. We realise it is for the health and safety of all, and it is the correct decision, but we’re still left feeling sad by the turn of events in 2020.
We also have to take into consideration that all of our events are on Natural Resources Wales managed land and at the Coed y Brenin visitor centre facilities, which are still very much closed. In addition we had until next Monday as the latest notice period (12 weeks from the date of the event) to apply for our permission for the Trail 10K Wales. So cancellation was our only option in reality.
The new date for the event will be Sunday September 5th 2021 and in line with the other cancelled events at Coed y Brenin this year we will automatically defer all entrants to date to the 2021 race, with all benefits of this year’s events and at no extra cost to the runner.
Equally we have a responsibility to our suppliers and sponsors and we are currently at the stage where we need to be placing orders and make decisions on event equipment and runners’ benefits with such things as t-shirts, prizes and medals etc. We are a small event organisation and cancellation at a late date after we have ordered these 2020 specific items would place us in financial ruin.
For the Trail 10kWales all runners entered will be deferred to the 2021 events. Your entry will be transferred automatically so as an entrant you do not need to re-register. If there is any additional information we need, we will be in touch asap.
Equally we will allow entry transfers to another runner should you be unable to make the date in 2021.
How do I secure my entry in the re-scheduled event?
You do not need to do anything, your entry will be automatically deferred.
How do I transfer my entry to another runner if I am unable to attend the re-scheduled event?
This will be conducted through our online entry transfer system, as normal.
Can I have a refund on my race entry instead?
Our terms and conditions clearly state that runners will not be entitled to a refund if an event is cancelled because of a circumstance beyond the reasonable control of the organisers, so sadly we are not in a position to offer refunds. We think that our offering of a deferral is a fair alternative option to runners, especially as our costs of event delivery that we have already spent in 2020 can no longer be recovered by us
What happens to any additional purchases I made with my race entry?
All hoodie and photo purchases will be automatically deferred along with your entry.
