Due to the Coronavirus pandemic the 2021 Winter Trail Wales event will now be the Virtual Winter Trail Wales!
One great aspect of the VWTW is that we are also offering runners the opportunity to run the waymarked half marathon route (1) on the stunning trails and tracks of the world-renowned Coed y Brenin Forest Park in the Snowdonia National Park (2). But, of course you can run your trail half anywhere in the world, in your local area on your favourite trail.
Participants are asked to complete the trail half marathon distance (13.1 miles) anytime between 10:30 am on Saturday January 16th, 2021 (the original race date) and 6:00pm on Sunday February 21st, 2021.
(1) This will be governed by the particular regional Coronavirus restrictions, including any travel restrictions, in place at the time of the event.
(2) Runners undertaking the trail running route at Coed y Brenin will do so entirely at their own risk as in normal daily conditions. Other than the standard fixed trail waymarkers there will be no course marking, marshalling or feed stations. There is a toilet facility at mile 10 and you can view the Coed y Brenin Trail Half here
After completing your half marathon you will be asked to upload your evidence via the TDL Events system link which will be sent to you upon completion of your entry.
This is not a race in the strictest sense because people will be taking part in very different conditions on different terrain. There will be leaderboards but not ‘results’ as such.
For your entry fee of £18 (including all admin and service fees BUT EXCL. your standard card fees) all participants will receive a personalised VWTW number, exclusive Virtual Winter Trail Wales Nanoweave Tube ‘buff’ product made in the UK by Giraffe worth £15, your name on the VWTW leader board, a donation of £3 of your fee will go to South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team and you will also gain entry into our post-event Virtual Winter Trail Wales prize draw to win one of 5 fab spot prizes!
Entry for the 2021 Virtual Winter Trail Wales event opens on Tuesday 1st of December, 2020 at 9.00am and we expect the 500 places to fill up fast! This will be a strict limit for the event, and we won’t be repeating any windows for entry – when they are gone, they are gone.
Priced at £18 (including TDL booking fee) we feel that the Virtual Winter Trail Wales is great value-for-money
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot issue refunds for this event, but will assist the entrant in transferring the VWTW place to another runner
